Hermann Schalk
Your sparring partner with real industry experience
My career path didn’t start in the seminar room, but in the slaughterhouse and production – with my qualification as a master butcher at the Lower Bavaria/Upper Palatinate Chamber of Crafts. I learned the food trade from the ground up – honest, direct, down-to-earth. This approach still characterizes my work and my consulting style today.
For over ten years, I worked in the gastronomy sector – my responsibilities included purchasing, production, food service, and branch supervision. This included preparing three meals a day for over 1,200 people in the military – that’s what characterizes organizational talent and leadership.
After attending the 1st Bavarian Butchers‘ School in Landshut, I deepened my technical understanding through a study of food technology (Dipl.-Ing. FH) at the Technical University of Munich/Weihenstephan. My focus was on business administration alongside a wide technological orientation. In my Diploma thesis, I practically dealt with partial and marginal cost accounting in meat processing companies.
Even then it was clear to me that I want to understand products, shape companies, and lead them successfully.
That’s why I deliberately included all food sectors in my studies – to think outside the box.
CSB System AG (1988 – 2023) 35 years of leadership, consulting and management- worldwide
From 1988 to 2023, I worked for CSB-System AG in various roles – including as a consultant, project manager, managing director, chairman of the supervisory board in various CSB companies and as an authorized signatory and sales manager worldwide. From 2002, I was also a member of the board of CSB-Engineering AG.
During this time I have:
- visited and advised over 3000 production plants worldwide
- helped build up or expanded companies in over 15 countries – including the USA, Australia, India, South Africa, Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Croatia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Russia and others
- aactively contributed to developing the CSB Group into an international player
My conviction was and is: Sustainable success needs a combination of operational excellence, entrepreneurial thinking and modern technology. It is precisely this combination that I bring to my consulting work today. And the most important thing is to pick people up!
Entrepreneurial consulting with depth (1989 – today)
Since leaving the CSB Group in 2023, I have been concentrating on my own companies: One of them is Entrconsulting Hermann Schalk. We advise commercial, medium-sized and larger companies in the food and manufacturing industry with a focus on:
- Process analysis and digitalization
- Intralogistics and production planning
- Cost and distribution structures
- Construction and other projects
I do not see myself as a traditional consultant, but as a sparring partner at eye level – pragmatic, solution-oriented and always with a view to concrete implementation
